Beautiful nature, beaches and towns

The Balearic Islands or Islas Baleares stand among the most popular destination in the Mediterranean sea for sailing cruising. The 4 main Islands (Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca, Formentera) offer a wide variety of landscapes, activities and interesting places to discover. This ranges from historical towns, visiting caves, sailing along beautiful cliffs, anchoring in bays with crystal clear water, visiting white (nude) sandy beaches and of course partying the night away on Ibiza island!

Starting by mid July and August are the more crowded months. In the summer, a sea breeze picks up before noon and can reach force 5 on the Beaufort scale (approx. 20 knots). Occasionally the strong Tramontaña wind can blow, that has to be taken into consideration by your skipper but it does not happen very frequently.

Skippers note: this sailing area can be very busy in the summer months, so late spring or early fall is a good season.

Best time
May to September

Average daily cruising distance
10 - 30 NM | 2 - 6 hrs / day, but crossings between islands can be much longer, especially between Ibiza and Mallorca.

Mooring fees
Apply mostly in marinas  and are by average 10-20 Euro per person/day, especially during high season. But fees are rare in bays, unless mooring buoys must be used that are 25-30 euro per yacht/day.
