Croatia | Dalmatian coast | Kornati islands to Split & Dubrovnik

Sail along the Dalmatian coast of Croatia

The beautiful sailing area along the dalmatian coast between the Kornati islands and Dubrovnik is known for its towns and islands, some part of the UNESCO world heritage. Sailing from the marina in Split, Trogir or Zadar gives access to the Kornati islands national park in the North or the surrounding islands South South-East towards Dubrovnik. The various towns are all very picturesque such as Hvar with its castle on top of the mountain with a fantastic view (that is worth the hike!). Several islands are green with usually plenty of bays to choose from for anchoring. Opposite Hvar is the naturist island Jerolim, which is popular with gays for its nude beaches.

During the summer season, winds can occasionally be strong.

Islands and places to visit on the South-Eastern route are Solta, Brac, Hvar, Lastovo, Korcula and Mljet or the beautiful Kornati islands that are part of the national park with places like Primosten, the waterfalls and Sibenik on the way to the North.

Skippers note: Croatia is known for its liberal attitude towards naturism, so nude sailing is no issue here.

A popular sailing destination is the Brijuni islands National Park. It is quieter and less crowded than the southern region of Croatia. Famous yachting destinations include the towns of Pula, Porec, Rovinj and the Kvarner islands of Krk, Losinj, Rab and Pag.
